A regular meditation practice has numerous benefits and can be started by
1) simply relaxing the body in a seated position with the spine upright, eyes closed, and hands upturned on the thighs.
2) follow the flow of breath as it moves in and out of the nose, mouth remains closed, for a few minutes until you feel calm and inwardly present.
3) tune into and expand one of the eight aspects of the higher self which are sound, light, peace, calm, wisdom, power, joy and love. Do this for as long as you like.
How long should you practice? Meditate for as long as it is enjoyable!
We go deeper into the art and science of meditation with a technique called Hong-Sau from Paramhansa Yogananda, a yogi who introduced the science of meditation and yoga to America in 1920. The word Hong rhymes with “song” and the word Sau rhymes with “saw”. Below is a link to an introduction video on the technique which is introduced in class each Sunday.
We also begin learning the Energization Exercises. The greater the will the greater the flow of energy and the greater the energy the greater the flow of magnetism, drawing success in our lives!
See the link below for the video on all 39 energization exercises. I provide them here but we will continue to learn, review and practice them in class. I encourage you to try them daily!
I leave you with some quotes on the value of meditation. Use them as your “why” to establish a regular daily meditation practice.
“Even a little practice of meditation can free one from dire fears and colossal suffering.” - Bhagava Gita
“When you don’t go within, you go without.” – Yogi Bhajan
“The only way out is in.” - Sadhguru
